Day 11: The Cat Under the Hoodie
In a rented flat in Lublin, students Ola (A) and Kasia (B) have ten minutes before their landlord, Mr Marek (C), arrives for an inspection.
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Polish word to see what it means.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Polish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dobra, nie ma co ściemniać, to Kluska spod Żabki. Wiemy, że umowa zabrania trzymania zwierząt.
OK, no point fibbing: it's Kluska, a stray from outside the Żabka shop. We know the contract says no pets.

Paragraf siódmy: zwierzęta dozwolone po zgłoszeniu, ale kto by czytał umowy. A za „przypał stulecia”, słyszalny na całej klatce, należy mi się zdjęcie kota dla córki.
Clause seven: pets permitted on notification, but who reads contracts, eh? And for the 'worst trouble of the century', audible all over the stairwell, I'm owed a photo of the cat for my daughter.
