Day 64: Sixty Guests, No Snow
In Białka Tatrzańska, three hours before sixty office workers from a Kraków company arrive for a torchlit sleigh ride, Julek (A), sixteen, who runs the social media for the family's sleigh ride business, brings bad news to his father Władysław (B).
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.

Tato, mamy kryzys: za trzy godziny przyjeżdża sześćdziesiąt osób na kulig, a cały śnieg w nocy spłynął do Białki.
Dad, we've got a crisis: sixty people are coming for a sleigh ride in three hours, and last night all the snow washed away into the Białka.

Jaki znowu kryzys? Konie są, pochodnie są, ino śniegu nie ma, a za pogodę nie odpowiadam.
What crisis? The horses are here, the torches are here, there's just no snow, and I'm not answerable for the weather.

Pani z HR-u już sprawdziła kamerki i pisze, że korpo płaciło za „zimową bajkę”, a nie za błoto.
The HR lady's already checked the webcams, and she's writing that the company paid for a 'winter wonderland', not for mud.

Niech pisze. Mój dziadek woził ceprów saniami, kiedy nie było ani internetu, ani HR-u, i jakoś przeżył.
Let her write. My grandad took the tourists out by sleigh when there was no internet and no HR, and somehow he survived.

Dobra, piszę oświadczenie: „Przeanalizowawszy prognozy i skonsultowawszy się z ekspertami, proponujemy Państwu innowacyjną formułę: ekokulig na kołach”.
Right, I'm writing a statement: 'Having analysed the forecasts and consulted experts, we are offering you an innovative format: an eco sleigh ride on wheels.'

Z jakimi ekspertami? Eksperci to ja i Siwek, a kulig na kołach to zwykły wóz.
What experts? The experts are me and Siwek, and a sleigh ride on wheels is just a cart.

„Wóz” brzmi słabo, a „ekokulig” to sztos. Dopiszę, że nasz tabor jest w stu procentach bezemisyjny.
'Cart' sounds lame, and 'eco sleigh ride' is epic. I'll add that our fleet is one hundred per cent emission-free.

Bezemisyjny? Chyba nigdy nie jechałeś za Siwkiem pod górkę, jak się nażre owsa.
Emission-free? I don't think you've ever ridden behind Siwek going uphill after he's stuffed himself with oats.

Plan B mam od rana, tylko nie pytałeś. Na Głodówce śniegu po kolana, a wujek Kazek już wiezie tam konie i sanie.
I've had a plan B since this morning, you just didn't ask. Up at Głodówka the snow's knee-deep, and Uncle Kazek's already taking the horses and sleighs up there.

Od rana?! Dobra, kasuję ekokulig, ale zostawiam jedno zdanie: „Przenosimy kulig na wyższy poziom”.
Since this morning?! Fine, I'm deleting the eco sleigh ride, but I'm keeping one sentence: 'We're taking the sleigh ride to a higher level.'
