Day 171: Headphones in the Coffee
At a logistics company in Tarnowskie Góry, Seweryn (A), a junior employee, asks his manager, Mr Cezary (B), for advice about his broken headphones.
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Polish word to see what it means.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Polish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.
Dialogue
Audio recordings are on the way. For now, each lesson is the dialogue with its English translation.

A
Panie Cezary, zepsuły mi się słuchawki. W sklepie mówią, że mam je wysłać do producenta.
Cezary, my headphones have broken. The shop says I'm supposed to send them to the manufacturer.
-
B
Nie musi pan. Przez dwa lata odpowiada za to sprzedawca.
You don't have to. For two years, it's the seller who's responsible.
-
A
Naprawdę? To mam złożyć reklamację w sklepie?
Really? So I'm supposed to make a complaint at the shop?
-
B
Tak. Jeśli jej nie rozpatrzą w ciągu czternastu dni, to jest uznana.
Yes. If they don't deal with it within fourteen days, it counts as accepted.
-
A
Paragon mam. Tylko że wczoraj zalałem je kawą.
I've got the receipt. It's just that yesterday I spilt coffee on them.
-
B
Zdarza się. Ale za kawę sprzedawca już nie odpowiada.
It happens. But the seller isn't responsible for coffee.
