Day 181: Too Dry for Mushrooms

In their rented flat in Kościerzyna, flatmates Luiza (A) and Adrianna (B) have just come back from mushroom picking when their landlord, Mr Witold (C), drops by.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Polish word to see what it means.

    Five hours in the forest and not a single mushroom!

    Od miesiąca nie padało. Za to w łazience grzybów mamy pełno.

    It hasn't rained for a month. Mind you, our bathroom is full of fungus.

    Dzień dobry paniom. Przyszedłem obejrzeć łazienkę, bo pisały panie o wilgoci.

    Good afternoon, ladies. I've come to look at the bathroom, since you wrote to me about the damp.

    Proszę. Z lasu wróciłyśmy z niczym, a tu grzyb rośnie sam.

    Here it is. We came back from the forest empty-handed, and here the fungus grows all by itself.

    Rzeczywiście. Wyślę dwóch fachowców, a na razie trzeba często otwierać okno.

    So it does. I'll send two workmen, and in the meantime you need to open the window often.

    Szkoda go. To jedyny grzyb, jaki w tym roku znalazłyśmy!

    Shame to lose it. It's the only mushroom we've found this year!
