Day 27: A Kilometre and a Half

In her flat in P艂ock, retired journalist Krystyna (B) is interviewed by her grandson Antek (A) for his school newspaper's anniversary issue.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Polish word to see what it means.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Polish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

    Dad says you walked ten kilometres to school through snowdrifts. Is that true?

    Not even a kilometre and a half, and on a pavement at that. Your dad was embellishing stories before he could write.

    Shame, ten sounds better. Then how about three and a half, at least?

    Fakt贸w si臋 nie naci膮ga. Napisz, 偶e by艂o nas w klasie czterdzie艣cioro, a dwie trzecie szko艂y uczy艂o si臋 po po艂udniu.

    You don't stretch the facts. Write that there were forty of us in my class, and two thirds of the school had lessons in the afternoon.
