   Jowita, have you watched my wodzionka video? I've been waiting since this morning to hear what you'll say, because you know about these things.

   I have, Mum. Having analysed the stats, I've got a few recommendations for you, with a view to increasing your reach.

   Recommendations? Talk normally: I'm not your board of directors, I'm just your mum.

   Normalnie: mówisz po śląsku, więc rozumie cię pół województwa. W ramach nowej strategii mówisz po polsku, a po śląsku jest tylko tytuł, dla kolorytu.

   Normally, then: you speak Silesian, so half the province understands you. Under the new strategy, you speak standard Polish, and only the title is in Silesian, for local colour.

   Wodzionka po polsku? To je jak wodzionka bez knoblocha: yno suchy chlyb we wodzie. Gańba by była na cołki Ślonsk.

   Wodzionka in standard Polish? That's like wodzionka without knobloch, without garlic: just dry bread in water. It'd be a disgrace to the whole of Silesia.

   Mum, this is what I do for a living. Wait, what? There are twelve thousand comments under the video?!

   Wiym, wiym. Jakiś gorol napisoł, że niy wiy, co to je wodzionka, i łod wczoraj pół Polski mu to tłumaczy. A rano dzwonił twój szef.

   I know, I know. Some gorol, some non-Silesian, wrote that he didn't know what wodzionka was, and since yesterday half of Poland has been explaining it to him. And this morning your boss rang.

   My boss? Only yesterday he was drumming it into me that Silesian is a niche you can't sell.

   Can't be sold, and yet there he is, ringing me first thing in the morning. He wants me to record an advert for your butter client, and my manager will talk to him about the fee.

    If not you, then who? From today you work for me: once the contract's signed, you get a commission and as much wodzionka as you can eat.

    A commission and all the wodzionka I can eat? That's a better deal than I get at the agency. Only we record the advert entirely in Silesian: that's the new strategy.
