Day 111: Five Minutes with the Dog

During a break at a primary school in Stalowa Wola, Wiktor (A) tells his classmate Nela (B) about his savings.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Polish word to see what it means.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Polish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

    I've already got eighty złoty in my piggy bank. I'm saving up for a new bike.

    OsiemdziesiÄ…t? Ja wszystko wydajÄ™ na naklejki.

    Eighty? I spend it all on stickers.

    Nie powinnaś. Tata mówi, że połowę zawsze trzeba oszczędzać.

    You shouldn't. My dad says you should always save half.

    Przecież ty dostajesz tylko dziesięć złotych na tydzień.

    But you only get ten złoty a week.

    Ale ja jeszcze zarabiam. OpiekujÄ™ siÄ™ psem pani Zofii.

    But I earn some money too. I look after Mrs Zofia's dog.

    To moja babcia! Mówi, że powinieneś chodzić z psem dłużej niż pięć minut.

    That's my grandma! She says you should walk the dog for longer than five minutes.
