Day 115: The Singing Cook
In a restaurant in Kłodzko, Konrad (A) and his girlfriend Aga (B), who live upstairs, have a word with the owner, Mr Mariusz (C).
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Polish word to see what it means.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Polish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Every evening there's singing until midnight. We can't sleep.

Bardzo państwa przepraszam. To nasz kucharz, zawsze śpiewa, kiedy gotuje.
I'm terribly sorry. That's our cook, he always sings when he's cooking.

Yesterday he sang for four hours. I think he got through every Krawczyk song.

Ładnie śpiewa, ale może mógłby kończyć o dziesiątej?
He sings nicely, but maybe he could finish by ten?

Porozmawiam z nim. Tylko że kiedy nie śpiewa, przypala pierogi.
I'll talk to him. Only, when he isn't singing, he burns the pierogi.
