Day 203: Cancelled for the Third Time
In their kitchen in Radomsko one morning, a father (A) is surprised to see his daughter 呕aneta (B) back home soon after she left for work.
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Polish word to see what it means.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Polish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.
Dialogue
Audio recordings are on the way. For now, each lesson is the dialogue with its English translation.

Ju偶 wr贸ci艂a艣? Przecie偶 mia艂a艣 autobus o si贸dmej dwadzie艣cia.
Back already? I thought you were getting the twenty past seven bus.
-
B
Znowu go odwo艂ali, trzeci raz w tym tygodniu. Brakuje kierowc贸w.
They cancelled it again, the third time this week. They're short of drivers.
-
A
Nic dziwnego. Trzech moich dawnych koleg贸w posz艂o w tym roku na emerytur臋.
No wonder. Three of my old workmates retired this year.
-
B
Wkurza mnie to. Mam i艣膰 pieszo przez p贸艂 miasta?
It drives me mad. Am I supposed to walk across half the town?
-
A
Nie musisz. Ich szef pyta艂 mnie wczoraj, czy nie wr贸ci艂bym za k贸艂ko.
You won't have to. Their boss asked me yesterday if I'd get back behind the wheel.

B
To wracaj, tato! Tylko popro艣 o lini臋 dziewi臋tna艣cie, staje pod moim biurem.
Then go back, Dad! Just ask for the number 19, it stops outside my office.
