Day 90: My Old Maths Teacher

On a May morning in Radom, Mr Kaczmarek (A), a passenger in a hurry, gets into a taxi driven by Robert (B).

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Polish word to see what it means.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Polish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

    I'll try, but there's traffic. Is your son sitting the matura?

    Nie, uczÄ™ tam. Moi uczniowie piszÄ… dziÅ› matematykÄ™.

    No, I teach there. My students are taking the maths paper today.

    Zaraz, zaraz... Pan profesor Kaczmarek? To pan mnie oblał z matematyki!

    Hang on... Mr Kaczmarek? You're the one who failed me in maths!

    Hm. To może jednak pojadę autobusem.

    Hmm. Maybe I'll take the bus after all.

    Spokojnie, w sierpniu zdałem poprawkę. Będzie pan na czas.

    Relax, I passed the resit in August. You'll be there on time.
