Day 127: No Water on Saturday?

At the morning meeting of a local news website in M艂awa, the editor, Mr Mazur (A), goes through the day's stories with his young reporters, Marianna (B) and Seweryn (C).

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Polish word to see what it means.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Polish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

    Zaczynamy. Pani Marianno, o czym dzi艣 m贸wi ca艂e miasto?

    Let's get started. Marianna, what's the whole town talking about today?

    O komunikacie wodoci膮g贸w, 偶e w sobot臋 ca艂e miasto b臋dzie bez wody. Internauci udost臋pniaj膮 go od rana.

    A notice from the water company saying the whole town will be without water on Saturday. People have been sharing it online all morning.

    Zanim cokolwiek opublikujemy, trzeba to potwierdzi膰. Panie Sewerynie, zadzwoni pan do wodoci膮g贸w?

    Before we publish anything, it needs confirming. Seweryn, will you ring the water company?

    Ju偶 tam dzwoni艂em, zanim przyszed艂em na zebranie. Nikt nie s艂ysza艂 o 偶adnej przerwie.

    I'd already rung them before I came to the meeting. Nobody there has heard of any shutdown.

    Jak to? Przecie偶 jest na nim ich logo i podpis prezesa.

    What do you mean? It's got their logo and the managing director's signature on it.

    Bo jest prawdziwy, tylko sprzed roku. Sp贸jrz na dat臋 na dole.

    Because it's genuine, just a year old. Look at the date at the bottom.

    Czyli p贸艂 miasta da艂o si臋 nabra膰 na stary komunikat. Mamy temat na dzi艣.

    So half the town fell for an old notice. There's our story for today.
