Day 24: Twelve Packs of Coffee
In the car park of a hypermarket in Bydgoszcz, Jacek (A) is loading his shopping into a taxi with the help of the driver, Dariusz (B).
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Polish word to see what it means.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Polish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.
Dialogue
Audio recordings are on the way. For now, each lesson is the dialogue with its English translation.

A
Ostrożnie z tą torbą, jest w niej dwanaście paczek przecenionej kawy.
Careful with that bag, there are twelve packs of discounted coffee in it.
-
B
Dwanaście? No tak, przy tych rosnących cenach każdy poluje na promocje.
Twelve? Well, with prices going up like this, everyone's hunting for special offers.
-
A
Za pół ceny, tylko do niedzieli. Zaoszczędziłem prawie dwieście złotych.
Half price, only until Sunday. I've saved almost two hundred złoty.
-
B
Tyle że część zaoszczędzonych pieniędzy zostawi pan zaraz u mnie.
Except that you're about to leave some of that saved money with me.
-
A
Spokojnie, nawet z kursem jestem do przodu.
Relax, even with the fare I'm still ahead.
-
B
To może odsprzeda mi pan jedną paczkę? Ja też lubię być do przodu.
Then how about selling me one pack? I like being ahead too.
