How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Polish word to see what it means.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Polish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.
Dialogue
Audio recordings are on the way. For now, each lesson is the dialogue with its English translation.

A
Nie wchodź od razu po szyję. Najpierw do kolan i spokojnie oddychaj.
Don't go straight in up to your neck. Up to your knees first, and breathe calmly.
-
B
Kuba, jest minus osiem. I ty to robisz co niedzielę?
Kuba, it's minus eight. And you do this every Sunday?
-
A
Od kiedy morsuję, mam żelazną odporność.
Since I took up ice swimming, my immune system's been made of iron.
-
B
Dobra, wchodzę. Ale czemu ty jeszcze stoisz w kurtce?
Fine, I'm going in. But why are you still standing there in your jacket?
-
A
Ja dziś tylko popilnuję rzeczy. Coś mnie bierze, nie chcę sobie zaszkodzić.
I'll just mind our things today. I'm coming down with something, and I don't want to do myself any harm.
-
B
Nie opowiadaj bajek. Albo wchodzimy razem, albo wracam do auta.
Don't give me that. Either we go in together, or I'm going back to the car.
