Day 77: The Test Nobody Remembered

During office hours at the university campus in Cieszyn, second-year students Miłosz (A) and Nina (B) ask Professor Lucyna Wilk (C) for more time for their study group's project.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Polish word to see what it means.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Polish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

    Pani profesor, cała grupa prosi o jeszcze tydzień na projekt. Wszyscy są przemęczeni.

    Professor, the whole group is asking for one more week for the project. Everyone's worn out.

  2. B

    Od kilku tygodni nie mogę się skupić, a do psychologa na uczelni czeka się miesiąc.

    For weeks now I haven't been able to concentrate, and there's a month's wait to see the university psychologist.

  3. C

    Terminu projektu nie przesunę, mogę natomiast przełożyć piątkowe kolokwium.

    I won't move the project deadline, but what I can do is postpone Friday's test.

    Jakie kolokwium? Słyszałaś coś o tym?

    What test? Have you heard anything about it?

  5. B

    Pierwsze słyszę. Kilkanaście osób w grupie i nikt tego nie zapisał?

    First I've heard of it. A dozen or so people in the group and nobody wrote it down?

  6. C

    Czyli jest gorzej, niż myślałam. Przesunę oba terminy, a państwo mają porządnie odpocząć.

    So it's worse than I thought. I'll move both dates, and you're all to get some proper rest.
