Day 107: Pellets for a PhD
In a fishing tackle shop in Mi臋dzych贸d, in the lake district north-west of Pozna艅, Leonard (A), a doctoral student, comes to buy bait for his research from the owner, Mr Alfred (B).
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Polish word to see what it means.

On pellets? Round here carp take sweetcorn, and three quarters of my customers don't fish with anything else.

With all due respect, your customers are hardly a representative sample. The prevailing view in the literature, you see, is that carp are guided mainly by smell.

Although I don't read the literature, I know carp personally. However your pellets smell, carp will still go for the sweetcorn.
