Day 108: Five Hundred Isn't What It Was
In a café in Kościan, close friends Majka (A) and Amanda (B) are writing a card for their friend Stella, who is getting married on Saturday.
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Polish word to see what it means.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Polish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Five years ago that was a decent sum. Allowing for inflation, today it's worth about three hundred and fifty.

You're exaggerating, a wedding isn't a savings account. Stella isn't getting married to make money out of it.

Not to make money, no, but a plate at their venue costs almost four hundred złoty. Your five hundred will barely cover what you eat.
