Day 124: Walking on My Pension
Over the fence between their gardens in Pułtusk, Janusz (A) brings his neighbour Lech (B) news of the draft local zoning plan for the meadow behind their houses.
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.

Panie Lechu, w urzędzie wyłożyli projekt planu miejscowego. Łąka za naszymi płotami ma być parkiem, a nie terenem pod zabudowę.
Lech, they've put the draft zoning plan on display at the town hall. The meadow behind our fences is going to be a park, not land for development.

Widziałem. Tyle że tę łąkę odziedziczyłem po ojcu.

Dlatego nie mam nic przeciwko parkowi. O ile rada uchwali plan, wystąpię do miasta z roszczeniem o wykup gruntu.
That's exactly why I've got nothing against a park. As long as the council passes the plan, I'll put in a claim for the town to buy the land from me.

Byłby, gdyby miasto miało pieniądze. Dopóki nie zabezpieczy ich w budżecie, park istnieje tylko na mapie.
It would be, if the town had the money. Until it sets the money aside in the budget, the park only exists on the map.

Wobec tego w uwagach do projektu dopiszę, że należy zabezpieczyć środki na wykup. Podpisy zbiorę podczas jednego spaceru: kogokolwiek tam spotkam z psem, ten się podpisze.
In that case I'll add to my comments on the draft that funds must be set aside for the buy-out. I'll get the signatures on a single walk: anyone I meet there with a dog will sign.
