Day 145: Twenty-Eight Years Is Enough
Over the fence in front of her house in a village near Sok贸艂ka, Zygmunt (A), the village head for the past twenty-eight years, stops for a word with his neighbour Honorata (B), a nurse.
How to study this lesson 3 steps

Me? I work shifts at the hospital, and being village head means meetings, letters to the municipality and phone calls at all hours.

If I remember rightly, at the last meeting you were the one complaining loudest that the village fund had gone on the fire station again.

Because it had! Over ten thousand z艂oty on a new garage door for the fire station, and the children haven't even got a swing.

Exactly. As long as you do your complaining over the fence, nothing will change, because with our turnout a handful of people decide everything.

That's why I can't propose a playground myself: the lads would never forgive me. But I've got three great-grandchildren, and I'd rather have a swing than a garage door.
