Day 43: Outvoted by Dachshunds
During office hours at the University of Szczecin, political science student Weronika (A) asks her lecturer, Dr Elżbieta Mazur (B), about a topic for her term paper.
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Polish word to see what it means.

A year ago I submitted a project for a bike repair station by the tram terminus. It was crushed by a dog park.

So you want to study your own defeat. Then objectivity is rather out of the question.

Chcę zbadać mobilizację wyborców, a nie lizać rany. Psiarze zorganizowali się w tydzień, rowerzyści zaś nawet nie zagłosowali.
I want to study how voters are mobilised, not lick my wounds. The dog people got organised within a week, whereas the cyclists didn't even vote.

Zgoda, lecz muszę coś wyznać. Sama głosowałam na wybieg, bo mam dwa jamniki.
Agreed, but I have a confession to make. I voted for the dog park myself, because I've got two dachshunds.
