Day 47: Pierogi and a Petition
In the summer garden of a pierogi restaurant on the market square in Sandomierz, Konrad (A) and his girlfriend Paulina (B) are finishing lunch when the owner, Roman Duda (C), comes over.
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Polish word to see what it means.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Polish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Skwer z ławkami, bo rada miasta, „wysłuchawszy głosu mieszkańców”, tak postanowiła. A bez dojazdu stracę trzy czwarte gości.
A little square with benches, because the town council, "having listened to the voice of the residents", decided on one. And if people can't drive here, I'll lose three quarters of my customers.

Przykro mi, nie podpiszę, bo sama zaprojektowałam ten skwer. Ożywi okolicę, a nowy parking będzie za pocztą.
I'm sorry, I won't sign, because I designed that square myself. It'll bring the area to life, and the new car park will be behind the post office.

Za pocztą? Wobec tego wycofuję petycję, ale ławki proszę postawić jak najbliżej mojego ogródka.
Behind the post office? In that case I'm withdrawing the petition, but please put the benches as close to my garden as you can.
