Day 92: Honey for You, Stings for Me

At the family apiary near Myszyniec in the Kurpie region, sixteen-year-old Nikodem (A) puts a business proposal to his father, Witold (B), a beekeeper.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Polish word to see what it means.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Polish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

    Dad, I've got a proposal. I sell our honey online, and I take twenty per cent on every jar.

    Twenty? Before you start counting your earnings, remember that the bees work for free, and I work for next to nothing.

    And who's going to wrap every jar in bubble wrap? And who'll answer the customers when you go off to camp?

    I've thought it through. Orders are collected through a form, and questions are answered by a chatbot I set up myself.
