Day 107: The Cats Are Taken
At the weekly team meeting of an insurance company in Ostrołęka, the manager, Mr Artur (A), makes an announcement to Marta (B) and Krzysiek (C).
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Polish word to see what it means.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Polish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.
Dialogue
Audio recordings are on the way. For now, each lesson is the dialogue with its English translation.

Proszę państwa, w piątek pomagamy w schronisku. Kto chętny?
Everyone, on Friday we're helping out at the animal shelter. Any volunteers?
-
B
Ja chętnie, warto pomóc. A co trzeba robić?
I'd love to, it's good to help. So what will we have to do?
-
A
Wyprowadzać psy na spacer. Można też sprzątać.
Walk the dogs. You can also do some cleaning.
-
C
Ja chyba zostanę w biurze. Boję się psów.
I think I'll stay at the office. I'm scared of dogs.
-
B
Spokojnie, Krzysiu. Potrzebują też kogoś do głaskania kotów.
Relax, Krzysiek. They need someone to stroke the cats too.
-
A
Niestety, koty są już zajęte. Zapisałem się pierwszy.
Sorry, the cats are already taken. I signed up first.
