Day 26: Read and Forgotten

In a room of the ms2 modern art museum in Łódź, Wojciech (A), a visitor, asks a young woman, Natalia (B), about something lying in the corner.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Polish word to see what it means.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Polish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

    Przepraszam, czy te zmięte gazety w kącie to też część wystawy?

    Excuse me, are those crumpled newspapers in the corner part of the exhibition too?

    Tak, to instalacja „Przeczytane i zapomniane”. Muzeum kupiło ją rok temu.

    Yes, it's an installation called "Read and Forgotten". The museum bought it a year ago.

    Naprawdę? Myślałem, że firma sprzątająca zapomniała je wynieść.

    Really? I thought the cleaning company had forgotten to take them out.

    Nie pan pierwszy. Raz nawet została wrzucona do worka na śmieci.

    You're not the first. Once it even got thrown into a bin bag.

    To może kupią też moje? W piwnicy mam cały stos przeczytanych gazet.

    Then maybe they'll buy mine too? In the cellar I've got a whole pile of newspapers I've already read.

    Niestety, każda musi być zmięta przez artystkę. Czyli przeze mnie.

    I'm afraid each one has to be crumpled by the artist. That is, by me.
