Day 59: A Water Tram to the Seals

On a train to Gdynia, Marcin (A), who is taking his daughter Ala (B) and their bikes to the Hel Peninsula, reads a text from the railway on his phone.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Polish word to see what it means.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Polish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

    Ala, we're out of luck. They've cancelled all the trains from Gdynia to Hel today.

    Wszystkie? A obiecałeś, że zobaczymy karmienie fok!

    All of them? But you promised we'd see the seals being fed!

    Spokojnie, mamy rowery, mamy kondycję. Z Gdyni to niecałe osiemdziesiąt kilometrów.

    Relax, we've got bikes, we've got stamina. It's under eighty kilometres from Gdynia.

    Osiemdziesiąt? Na plakacie w wagonie piszą, że z Gdyni pływa tramwaj wodny!

    Eighty? The poster in the carriage says there's a water tram from Gdynia!

    A water tram, with bikes? How do you know all this?
